Fritti is quite possibly is my favorite pizza place in the city. They serve authentic Neopolitan pizza cooked in a 1000 degree wood burning oven. Before I delve into my pizza, I can never resist their Funghi Fritti. It’s crimini and portobello mushrooms in rice flour batter with white truffle oil. They are topped with some rosemary and come with a delicious dipping sauce (I believe its an aioli). So hot, crispy and delicious. I could eat the whole thing myself.
All of Fritti’s pizzas are certified by the Versace Pizza Napoletana Association and are prepared according to traditional methods. I have not been disappointed by any pizza I have tried but I must say I do have a favorite- Ananas e Gorgonzola. It’s gorgonzola, mozzarella, fresh pineapple and a 12 year old aged balsamic vinegar. I took it a step further and added prosciutto to this almost perfect pizza. The flavor combination is like no other and I love that you can taste the wood fire in the crust.
Top all of this off with a nice bottle of red wine and you are all set. I will continue to come back to Fritti over and over again.
